Can you believe it??? I am still re-living the past days in my mind: How has such an impossible situation become history? It has been a blur, but I will take a step back and fill you in.
Like I said, I went to bed Tuesday night disappointed...
But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. "The LORD is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him." The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.

Lamentations 3.21-26
On Wednesday morning I got a call from the British Embassy from a man asking for Sarah. He asked her to confirm that she was my wife, that she was a British citizen, and was wondering how our daughter would stay in England without a visa (when I filled out my visa application Abigail hadn't gotten her British passport yet). He said that my visa would be approved pending proof of Abby's citizenship.
With unexpected renewed faith, we scanned her documents and began to ponder whether it was possible to still make it to the airport on time (our documents would still need to be mailed to us in order to travel). I got an idea. I called my visa agent and asked if there was any place in San Fransisco to overnight the documents to- he said they have an office in San Fransisco that should receive them by noon on Thursday. It was possible!
We rushed to get ready, throwing our half-packed bags into my parents' car, and took off for San Fransisco that afternoon. We got to our hotel around 9pm and went straight to bed. When we woke up on Thursday, we packed until our visa arrived, then left for the city to pick it up. Passports in hand, we made a stop to cancel our cell phone service and got to the airport at 3pm, three hours before departure. By the time we got through security we had just enough time to grab lunch before boarding the plane.
Here we are, Friday morning: Partially unpacked and only slightly jet-lagged. Thanks again for your prayers!
Amazing! I'm totally blown away! God really is incredible... I'm thankful that His call was clear and you guys were faithfully obedient!
ReplyDeleteI miss you sooo much. Is there any way I can talk you into coming back? You leave and Brett misses his first game. Is this coincidence? I don't think so. I wore the work jacket I bought at your garage sale out at camp. It felt like a Luke hug all day long.
ReplyDeleteSarah, I'm so glad I finally found your website I've been curious to know more of your plans so it was great to read the past blogs and get caught up. I'm so thrilled for your family. You guys are amazing for leaving all and following where God has called you. Bless you guys!!! I sure miss hanging out with you. Life in a foreign country with fewer Christian sisters can get lonely, but the Lord is so good and we are doing very well here in China! ~Becca Carpenter
