Every business day at 4pm a courier picks up all the finished visas and passports from the embassy in LA. In the last week, we checked our email every day at 4.30pm to see if ours was one of them. We had it all calculated: In order for our "plans" to work... as "planned", our visa would need to be finished by evening on Monday, Nov. 29...
receiving my visa along with Sarah's and my passport (which had to be sent in with the visa application) no later than mid-day on Tuesday.
Our plan was to leave early on Wednesday morning, taking a leisurely drive down to San Fransisco (stopping as often as we wanted along the way), and arriving with plenty of time to tie up any loose ends and be completely stress free. Then, staying the night at a hotel near the airport, we wouldn't need to be rushed, and our early evening departure time would mean we would be tired enough to sleep on the non-stop flight and arrive in England with minimum jet-lag.
Our LORD had different plans...
In reality, we spent most of Tuesday in faithful dynamic intercessory prayer, believing for an "11th hour" miracle but having still not gotten word of any progress with my visa. Even if we got our visa on Wednesday we could still drive down that evening. When 4.30pm passed with no word I began to worry, and finally I got an email from our visa agent that our visa was still not approved. I couldn't believe it. I was so disappointed. I begain to question GOD's leading and our direction. I lost motivation in packing. There was no way we would be able to fly on Thursday. I briefly checked on ticket prices for later in the month- prices starting at $800 each.
But like I said, our LORD did still have plans...
