Both Bey and Lek moved here from Bangkok, and are still learning English. Bey got saved through a ministry called Crossroads, which is a local skaters ministry. He is a great worship leader and is in high demand, as he plays gigs and leads worship for many ministries in the area.
Bey has become a great friend to Nathanael and Luke, and the language barrier does not hold them back from laughing together. He is the worship leader at 'True Friend Church', training to pastor his own church, and is currently searching for a venue to start a youth church and worship school. Lek is expecting her third child and a great support of her husband's dreams and ministries, she often sells second hand clothes at a local market as part of her ministry too. Jade and Sarah relate well with her (comparing bumps) and although communication is difficult, they definitely enjoy time together. The children get a long well, and play as well as they can with the little language they both understand.
We enjoyed having their family in our home last night, where Nathanael and Luke cooked the American version of a Thai green curry with curried lentils and rice.YUM. Thais enjoy fresh raw garlic and whole raw peppers with their meals, so we implemented this dimension to our meal. Much ice cream and breath fresheners were required afterwards! It was great to see Sarah and Jade come alive in their hospitality!
