Abby's new passport...

Well as you can see from the last post, Abigail is British.  And as you may know, British citizens don't need visas to stay in their country.  Therefore, ( 2 - 1 = 1 ) we now only need one visa (for Luke).  This is truly amazing for a couple reasons.
First, one settlement visa costs about $1500 US.  We were thinking Abs and I would both need one, so $3000 total. Thankfully we talked with someone who said it would be possible to get Abby her British passport ($300) before our flights were scheduled to leave (originally we were told it would take over a month, but this source said 3-4 weeks).  So we were biting our nails... until the second reason this news is so great: from the day we sent out the paperwork she had a printed passport in 12 days!!!  Well I couldn't believe it.  The only problem now is: since her passport came that quickly, we're expecting my visa to come that quickly too (with less and less contented patience), even though we were told it would take about 4 weeks (and the British embassy website says "allow 12 weeks" (yikes)).  Please pray that this visa will come quickly (and for daily faithful patience).  Sarah and I both had to send our passports with the application, so without these in hand we won't be able to fly out on December 2nd as planned, and we'll lose our cheap tickets.  One day... we will be glad to have already learned to...
"Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land. In just a little while, the wicked will be no more; though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there. But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace. Psalm 37.7-11 ESV

  1. hi Luke and Sarah, why does Luke need a visa to go to the UK. I thought he would be granted a visa upon arrival.

  2. This has nothing to do with the Visa but I will be carrying the pro Packer/anti Favre mantle in your absence. I will be thinking of you every time Brett gets sacked or something in our house is Wonky. God bless and God speed. Luke, don't go to the dark side of the force (had to get one last one in).
